International Efforts

RFPD is proud to announce its new partnership with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).
In October, FIGO's Chief Executive, Prof. Hamid Rushwan, and RFPD's CEO, Prof. Dr. Robert Zinser, signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing on pooling efforts to promote the improvement of maternal and newborn health through advocacy and project. FIGO's vision and mission perfectly fit the work and aims of RFPD being a resource for Rotary's Future Vision Area of Focus 'Maternal and Child Health'.

FIGO is a professional organization that brings together obstetrical and gynecological associations from all over the world. Its vision is that women of the world achieve the highest possible standards of physical, mental, reproductive and sexual health and wellbeing throughout their lives. Its mission is the improvement of women's health and rights, and the reduction of disparities in healthcare available to women and newborns, as well as to advance the science and practice of obstetrics and gynecology. The organization pursues its mission through advocacy, programmatic activities, capacity strengthening of member associations, education and training.

Every Woman Every Child is an unprecedented global effort, spearheaded by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, to mobilize and intensify global action to improve the health of women and children around the world. Working with leaders from governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector and civil society, Every Woman Every Child aims to save the lives of 16 million women and children and improve the lives of millions more.

The Partnership for Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (PMNCH) joins the maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) communities into an alliance of more than 350 members to ensure that all women, infants and children not only remain healthy, but thrive. The Partnership’s value proposition arises from its being the only platform that brings together all of the many Partners in the global health community focused on improving the health of women and children and promoting the Continuum of Care.

The Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) brings together existing maternal health networks and engages new organizations to facilitate global coordination of maternal health programs.
