E-platform introduced by project “Rotary Strengthens the Nigerian Health System” –initiated and supported by RFPD

The Initial Training Course on the www.mch-nigeria.net e-platform was conducted together with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) during 2-days for all Maternal and Child/Reproductive Health Executives and statisticians of the project states in Abuja, Nigeria. It was followed by a 1-day training at hospital level for medical record officers and midwives in all 8 project states. In total 146 participants from hospital to federal level were trained and from April 2017 all 65 project hospitals will use the mch-nigeria e-platform to enter monthly maternity statistics according to the Nigerian MPDSR guidelines.

With the new e-platform all maternal deaths will be recorded at hospitals level and within 24 hours a notification will be sent to the relevant Ministry of Health (MoH). With these information hospitals and the MoHs will be enabled to conduct a standardized review to derive appropriate measures to prevent maternal deaths.

The Federal Ministry of Health has shown great interest and is seeking possibilities to expand the e-platform to all Nigerian States and all their hospitals.
